Chicago - Sept. 2016

Earlier in the year, June mentioned that her good friend, Heidi, would be moving back to California sometime soon, and if we wanted to visit her in Chicago, then we should do it sooner rather than later. In addition, her sister Kim may also be able to make it to the windy city because her daughter is currently working there. So June made a few phone calls, and the first part of September would work perfectly.

I also had an ulterior motive: I had been communicating on and off with my newly discovered Aunts in Wisconsin. So as the time got closer, I asked them if they would be available for a face-to-face meeting. They were up for it! Read about my 2-day drive into Wisconsin.

Now, I am well aware that Chicago heads the list of murders and other sordid violence, but I found the downtown area, where we hung out almost exclusively, to be absolutely clean, devoid of homelessness, and nothing but very friendly. Also, this is a very unique year as the Cubs are enjoying an unbelievable season. Maybe that joy has soaked into the very fabric of downtown Chicago. We saw Cubs cabs and shirts everywhere, and I never noticed a White Sox logo anywhere.
