After a grueling summer playing Division III softball, they regrouped and played a shorter - and less competitive - fall season. Hard-up for players, they asked me to fill in. I agreed- reluctantly, but 10 minutes into the game, I was having a blast and played the rest of the season. These great shots were taken at the fifth game of the season by Teresa.
10 minutes after a victorious 1-run game to make it into the playoffs. Top row from left: Me, Ross, Dru, Andrew, Darryl, Chris Lower row from left:: Lance, Byran, Gary, Brad, Darren |
Another magical Friday night at Comstock. |
Darrel steps in. |
Dru digs one out at first, sort of... |
Brad waiting on a pitch. One game he beat our several infield hits - one to second base! |
Byran beats one out. |
Chris -the monster-crushed one-after-another down the third base line. |
The third base coach (me) made a poor judgement and sent Chris home. He wisely held up before getting to the plate and got into a pickle. He forced them to make one-too-many throws and scored. |
Intense in the dugout. After his earthly father hangs him out to dry, Chris petitions to his heavenly father. |
Darren after making a GREAT game-ending play at third. If he missed it, we would have lost. He made several spectacular plays throughout the season - with NO errors! |
Darrel and Lance on the field. |
Dru at the plate. |
Gary at the dish. |
Gary rounding first base. |
Ross, my worthy protege, on the mound. |
It was a humbling season for me at the plate. Ross on-deck. |
Ross at the plate; Lance on-deck. |
Lance getting after one; Byran on-deck |
Byran after making ANOTHER spectacular play in center. |
