We drove up on Tuesday, July 8th, the day after June's birthday. Alicia, Garrett, and the kids came up next Saturday. Garrett left the following Wednesday. Coincidentally, Alicia's dad and Lisa would also be staying in Homewood.

This was probably the first time that June and I did NO work while we were there. Steve hired the new cleaner, Mike, to pick up the brush and tree debris a few weeks before we got there. It was in real nice shape.

Notes: Almost every day we went to the beach and pool. We broke out the raft and left it near baby beach. Somehow we lost half of a paddle so we have to remember to bring up a paddle next time.

Also, the ping pong table net was broken so I devised a stick balanced on two rocks as a net. It worked great!

The neighborhood was visited several times by a blondish bear nicknamed both Cinnamon and Fluffy.

Tues, July 8 - We hit the pool, then we got ready to celebrate June's birthday at Spoons. Strangely, Spoons was closed Tuesday and Wednesday so we went to the new Mexican restaurant, Shadyside. I gave it good reviews.

Wed, July 9 - We hiked to Sunrise bench, then Quail Lake. The shortcut to the base of The Glades ski run in Homewood is no longer accessible from the Quail Lake side.

Thurs, July 10 - June and I rode bikes to Erman Mansion

Fri, July 11 - We hiked the Skylane to Basalt trail that I found last year on AllTrails. See it here. Lovely!

Sat, July 12 - In the morning I did a short ride to Rubicon. That afternoon the crew arrives! We went to the pool. Cora and Isla do a free bucket painting.

Sun, July 13 - I took a ride from the cabin, up to Bald Eagle and made my way up past a gate along a nice trail to Noonchester mine, left to Rubicon and back home. Later, the crew arrives. We go to the pool/beach, then Commons beach in the evening to see a band, then go to Za's for pizza.

Mon, July 14 - I hiked up to Ellis Peak (see video from the top) from the cabin through Homewood. See the trip on AllTrails here. Later we went to the lake and pool. Then bbq'd burgers in the new mini-Weber that I was given from Dan's buddy. Worked great!

Tues, July 15 - Dan's 70th birthday! He wasn't there but we all went to Sunnyside for dinner and had Hula pie for June's birthday a week earlier.

Wed, July 16 - Garrett's last day so they all went to see Alicia's Dad and Lisa staying in Homewood. June and I drive up to Barker Pass and walk to the wildflower meadow. It was beautiful!! Check it out here.

Thurs, July 17 - Steve and Sheryln visit for the day. We hung out at the lake and pool. Then had lunch at Chamber's Grill for Steve's birthday.

Fri, July 18 - June and the ladies went to Kings Beach to play miniature golf, had a terrible lunch at the burrito window, then ice cream and shave ice. I rode my bike from the Cabin to Barker Pass. Check it out here.  About 5 miles of brutal climbing! I think I did this only once before.

Sat, July 19 - Last day for the crew. We walked to the Fairy stump (now gnomes) with everyone. Then went home to pack and clean. We drove them to the airport in Reno, then had dinner in a nice restaurant in a gas station 5 miles south of the airport. I googled the ride home and it took us over the mountains passed Mt Rose and into Incline village. It was cool checking out a new route.

Sun, July 20 - June and I get up and decide to clean and head out that day. We did a very thorough and quick cleaning, hit the road and major traffic in Sacramento at the 80/50 junction. Live and learn!
