We will go back in time starting with Mom's parents:
Born: Nov. 27, 1904, probably in the East Bay (Oakland) where his parents lived.
Parents: Joseph Boullet and Anna Melchoir
Married at 21.
Moved to San Francisco.
He drove a milk truck in the north bay.
Died: Feb. 7, 1962 at 58 yrs.
Born: Sept 12, 1904, probably in San Francisco. She lived with her parents in SF at age 6.
Died: Feb. 26, 1997 at 93 yrs.
There could be a whole book written about this lady.

Nana met Grandpa in Mission San Jose. His mom (Anna Melchoir) owned a candy store there. His mom never liked Nana.
Married in 1925. They had four kids: Irene (mom) 1930, Rene Jr. 1935, Barbara 1937, Ellen 1939.
They lived on Valencia St. SF in 1927.

Their story is a very short one. There is NO recoverable marriage cert, and no census showing that they lived together.
The only evidence is a son, Rene Joseph Boullet.
The each have separate histories with little in common.

Born: Aug. 26, 1884 in Calif.
Parents: John and Caroline Melchior (both born in Germany -more likely Denmark).
Rene, only son, born 1904. She would have been 20 yrs.
Issued a SSN in Indiana before 1951.
Died: 2 Nov 1971 in Calistoga, Napa, California at 87 yrs.
Personal Note: She lived in Calistoga. Myself and the older brothers would spend weeks during the summer with her. She was always nice to us. But apparently she and my Grandma (Elllen) didn't get along. When Anna died in 1971, I drove Mom up to Calistoga to attend the funeral. During the open casket session, I watch my Grandma chew out Anna in her casket. Scary!
Mary Melchior, (aka 'Mame') Anna's slightly older sister was well known to Mom. At some point she married a man with last name :Hickey. She was known to us as Aunt Marie Hickey. This proved valuable in finding more about their mom, Caroline.

Shows Anna Boullet (26 yrs.), Head of household - now Widowed!
Living with Rene Joseph Boullet (son - 5) and Marie (Mary - sister -27).
Strange because her husband's death certificate (not saved) shows him dying in 1944.
Now she is living alone in Alameda county, 36 yrs old (We KNOW this is her)
Divorced (no longer widowed) and her parents were from Denmark! Her occupation is candy merchant.
At 39 yrs, shows her widowed on San Jose Ave in SF with Eugene and Rene J. There are many city directories that list her husband as 'Jos'.
At 55 yrs, shows her in Fort Wayne, Indiana, living with a lodger.
At 72 yrs, shows her in Calistoga, Ca.
With son (Rene J) and Ellen, holding Irene.
The ONLY evidence that he was married to Anna Melchior is several 'residence' listings from Oakland, Alameda.
From the Death Cert:
Born April Feb. 26, 1876 in Calif.
Mother's maiden name Ayers.
Died Jan. 28, 1944 in Napa county.
Shows him 43, divorced, living in Oakland with brother Joseph and Olivia (Mom 70). Both list their father as being from Louisana. (Actually it was Alabama)
Shows nothing changed, except now he is widowed (not true!)

Married: sometime.
Died: 1896 at 55 yrs.
Born: Jan 1850 in Maryland, USA
Parents: John C Ayers and Maria D Keller (born in Maryland 1819. Her Father was born in Germany.)
1870 census: living in SF with parents. Eldest of 6 siblings
1900 census: living in Oakland w/ four kids
Died: Sometime after 1930 at least 80 yrs.

Parents: Unknown
Married: Another Olivia (born in 1825 in France) confusing!!
Died: 1873 In Virginia City, Nevada at 63 yrs.

She immigrated 1880 from Germany. (She was 23).
Married the following year: 1881 to ? Melchior - so she married in USA.
Had three children: Mary (1884), Anna (1885), John (1888)
