On July 3, Brett, Brad, and myself took the red-eye from SFO to JFK. We arrived at about 6 am on July 4, got some breakfast and met up with Lindsey at the airport. Actually, we covered A LOT more ground on this trip than just NYC.
Lindsey had the only camera so the rest of our
trip is only on video. Also, we later
discovered that she was carrying Josette on this trip. She was sick for
all of New York and Boston, but what a trooper!
Connecticut / Boston (28 minutes)
Everyday we took a bus from New Jersey, under the Lincoln tunnel, and into the city. We spent a LOT of time walking and taking the subway and bus in Manhattan. And then back to Jersey in the evening.

We got in to JFK on the morning of July 4th. Since we were in the neighborhood, we decided to spend some time at Coney Island. It was before noon, but the beach was already getting busy. Lots of old people parading up and down the beach. Brett had to jump in. |

After dropping off the car in New Jersey, we headed back to Manhattan for the fireworks show on the East River. We got there plenty early to watch the day's proceedings. This was part of it: the traditional spraying of red, white, and blue water. We are looking across the river at Long Island. |

We took a 4-hr. boat cruise around Manhattan Island. This spectacular view of the Statue of Liberty was accompanied by 30 minutes of Lady Liberty trivia. The heavily-edited version is on the video. |

Again from the boat, the United Nations building. |

The first of the bridges going up river. I know the name because I remember how to remember the bridges over the East River. BMW -- From the south, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg. Actually, we turned around before we got to the Queensboro bridge, so there's at least 4 bridges. |

We toured the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier one afternoon and saw lots of cool planes. This one being an F-16 Falcon. Thankfully we had Lindsey taking pictures for us as this part was not on the video for some reason. Very fun! |

Brett in front of an F-14 Tomcat, like the one featured in the first Top Gun movie. |

Brett being heavily leaned on. |
We spent an afternoon riding bikes from a small bike shop on the Upper East side through Central Park. Very fun! |
While we were they, the weather was perfect. Mild and not too humid. |
We spent one morning downtown - the spot of the World Trade Center. No picture though - not much to see. This is the bull on Wall Street. |
Chris and Brett seemed far more interested in the backside. |
Of course, it was inevitable; the dreaded trip to the top of the Empire State Building. Looking southeast, across the Hudson. The Statue in the distance. |
Brett checking out the pigeons nesting. He was very comfortable with heights. |
Of course, there is the gift shop at the top. |

More walking down Broadway. This is us in front of the home of Letterman. We also visited Rupert G. at the Hello Deli around the corner. |
Took the subway one evening, through Harlem, to the Bronx to take in a Yankee game. George Constanza was not working that night. |
It was $5 night for the nose bleed section. A highlight was watching people coming up the stairs and stumble on ONE stair right next to us that was 2 inches higher than all the others. |
Just good fun! |

The Yankees went on to play Boston for the American League Pennant that year. Good Bye NY! |
