We decided to spend some dough and take on the Chatooga River the day be before we left. This is the river that was chosen to film Deliverance, starring Burt Reynolds the master mind of a bunch of idiots going down the river in canoes. Keri, our guide, was gracious enough to point out the beach where the "love scene" was filmed. The river is the border between Georgia and South Carolina. We were on the river about 5 hours, in the water about 4, in high-raising rapids about 2 hrs. There was a nice lunch in there also.

BTW: The photographer made a pretty good living taking action shots and selling them back to you back at the ranch. He was paddling in a shorty kayak - much faster than us. These shots are in order - four different falls spread out down the river.

This was the first rapid that we encountered in the day, it was called 7 foot falls. the name is straight to the point, 7 feet of pure terror. |
As we start dipping into the water we all realized how serious this was, it makes it much scarier when the guide started warning us what to do if we fell out of the boat. A few people did on this first one. |
Close up you get a good look on what we are feeling on the inside, i am pretty sure i heard the words "oh good god!!!!" come out of my dad several times through out the day. |
at least in this one every body has a smile on their face, except for dad. Me and Garrett decided to pick the front, it is a much better place to sit because of the view. |
This is post 7 foot, everybody is still in the boat thankfully. The next serious spot we got to probably took 30 minutes to get to from where we set in, this spot was a whole set of rapids one after the other. |
This could be the best picture of us, we are smiling and it appears that everybody is having fun. |
Awww yes, Keri was not to happy about this one. We were the last one to go down this rapid and surely the most embarrassing. there were at least 8 boats in the whole fleet. we took turns one by one going down them. we got stuck on the rock that created the drop off, not too much fun. |
Cutco clearly enjoying himself here. notice that there is only one picture out of all these where he is not sporting a smile. And there are no pictures where i am not looking at the camera with a goofy look, everybody was focused on the paddling and i thought that we all decided we were going to be looking at the camera, i guess not. |
This, by the look of it, was the scariest of the bunch. i am proud to say that i kept the concentration on the camera. Dad and Garrett look like they are ready to drop one in their pants. |
Even Keri doesn't look too confident about this one but luckily Dad and Garrett bared the terror in their face so it relieved me a little bit. |
Fully engulfed in water. good action shot. |
Check out the water in the raft, woo hoo said I. |
Keri is yelling out orders. she said stuff like "paddle you assholes!!!" (just kidding, but she did say left draw and forward 2 and such like that). |
Were catching some air in this pic. We lost Keri, Cutco took it upon himself to captain the boat. |
Oh!!! My face isn't on the camera, Keri told us to not be afraid to lean into the boat if we ever felt unsafe. here dad is taking full advantage of her advice. i think Garret's face pretty much sums up the feeling in the boat. G - this is called decapitation rock. That is why I am leaning in - scared to death. |
Bit of a fall after the rock, everyone still has their heads - physically at least. |
Good times!! |
