Georgia

In July 2009, Brett and I took a trip to the lovely southern state of Georgia to visit an old friend, Cutco and his son. They previously joined us on a trip to Phoenix in the spring of 2008.

Brett took many of the pictures and wrote al of the captions unless otherwise noted by "-G" at the end.

Of our ten days there, we traveled to Atlanta three times - about 1.5 hrs south.

Big buildings there - a dime a dozen.

On this Atlanta page:

The Aquarium

Garrett , Cutco and Brett ready to go into the Atlanta Aquarium for a day of fun. this was our first day in the beautiful city.

Big tank full of fish. Hammer head giving us the stink eye

We stopped for a quick tour of the big tank wasn't very impressed by the amount of knowledge shown. the two big fish in the front are huge.

whole lot of fish, you can see the seam in the glass to the right of the middle of the pic. the glass is over 2 feet thick.

Brett's silhouette can give you an idea for the size of these giants,

A group of finding nemo fish "hey what are you looking at"

A gator we found in a swamp behind the aquarium, just kidding it was an exhibit.

baby beluga in the deep blue sea swims so high and swims so free. tehe, it can gather a crowd.

Jelly fish doing what they do, and doing it good. very mesmerizing and relaxing to watch.

PIRANHA there were a ton of them in a tiny little tank, ugly little critter.

I cant tell what fish this is but it is obviously very fast. we all had a wonderful time at this aquarium. more than once we heard it was the biggest aquarium in the world, not sure how you would measure that, but it was still a good time.

Centennial Olympic Park

entering the famous centennial Olympic park

a fun place for kids to play in the water Cutco and dad had a fun time frolicking in the fountain together.

CNN

20 steps within the door this is the view, not very crowded.

we took the CNN tour of the whole place, towards the end of the tour we saw an anchor doing a live report on t.v. we learned that they will never make eye contact  no matter how hard you knock. No pictures were allowed.

Cutco and Brett reeking havoc in the cnn buliding.

Wolf Blitzer and his buds, brett never hesitates to get his picture taken.

Coke World

the outside of the coke factory. checkout their site.

a few days later we went to the coke factory, as we were waiting for the tour guide we took a picture in front of the worlds coke bottles.

coke merchandise

all the coke you can drink.....seriously. every station had the different coke products of the continent. this seemed to be the biggest attraction yet it was in the smallest room. Brett and garrett went out on an expedition to try an drink every kind of coke, over 50 kinds, too crowded and too much.

The whole place had kind of a Willy Wonka effect to it, Brett had to get his hands on their innocent assembly line.

High Museum

check out their site.

My (Bretts) personal favorite, to think that someone painted this is just unbelievable let alone it has been saved from hundreds of years ago.

the inside of the gallery, futuristic, quiet, and very high class.

Adoration of the Magi

Benvenuto Tisi - 1534

Dude Having Fun

me and garrett found this one very amusing.

Lilly pads by Monet.

the most famous piece of art in the hole place. dad pulled off this shot before security wrestled him to the ground.

the garys, the g brothers, partners in crime. sharing a laugh."I think I hit my head when that dude slammed me into the ground.

Stone Mountain

Check out their website.

the actual carving of the rock. you can take a gondola up to the top and take pictures and even fall off if you really wanted to.

We made it up to the top , watch out for that first step..its a doozy.

Video: Brett on the edge.

and At the top

We stumbled over the edge and had to climb back up. Very steep. Good think we both have very strong fingers ;-)

Inside the Stone Mtn park. brett on a ropes course. brett and garrett domintated the place regardless of garretts fear of heights. well done garrett.

See a video of Brett and Garrett on the ropes course.

Miscellaneous

we took in a braves game while we were in the city. a very nice tempered crowd compliments a beautiful stadium.

Video: Inside the park during one of many chop chants.

The Confederate soldier, standing guard. There are several of them in the south, all of them face north..............waiting.

The capital building in Atlanta, turns out Dahlonega was the original gold rush in the united states.
